Our family has been traveling full time in our Coachmen Apex Nano 208BHS since November 2021, and it’s safe to say that the RV we chose to be our home is one of the best decisions we’ve made on the journey so far.

We can’t help but leave a 5-star review of our rig. Not only does it have all 5 of the features that were most important to our family, it’s also been very reliable.

If you’re interested in learning more about how we decided on our rig, check out this post I published on Medium to learn how we did it and get tips for your own research.

5 Reasons We Love the Coachmen Apex Nano 208BHS

    Double-Sized Bunkhouse

The double-sized bunkhouse was a must-have for our family of 4. We wanted the kids to have private spaces that were big enough to do more than just sleep.

The kids store their clothes, extra blankets, and a few books and toys in their bunks. And they still have plenty of room to spread out at bedtime.

It’s a bunkhouse in a camper, so the ceilings aren’t super high (our 8-year-old can’t sit up straight), but it’s plenty tall enough for what we need. They can recline and read, draw, play with dolls, build with Legos, and do whatever else they get into.

And when they want some time alone, the bunks are a great place to shut the curtains and get some space.

    Slide-Out Dinette

For us, a slide-out dinette was also a must-have. It’s amazing how much a slide-out opens up the floor plan in a small living area like a camper.

Without it, I know we would feel like we were living in a hallway. Yikes.

There’s tons of added storage under the dinette benches too, which is great for keeping things organized and tucked away when we’re not using them.

    Natural Light

We also love how much natural light the 2021 Coachmen Apex Nano 208BHS has. It has a huge window in the front, a window by the queen bed, a window in the dinette, a window by the kitchen, and one window in each of the kids’ bunks.

We love how light and bright all those windows make the space feel. And our traveling cats love that they always have a window seat.

    Murphy Bed Sofa

Murphy beds are another great way to save on space in a 250-square foot living area. We really need to be able to store our bed away when we aren’t using it.

The Coachmen Apex Nano 208BHS has a relatively unique Murphy bed setup. The bed folds in half (we actually replaced the mattress for one that folds in thirds and we’ve been really happy with it) when not in use, revealing a little sofa underneath.

We love having this space during the day, And, there’s more storage under the sofa, which is great for keeping the kids’ toy bins easily accessible.

    Lightweight Construction

We didn’t want to have to buy a new truck to travel full time, but our Chevy Colorado can only tow so much.

We needed a camper that would be lightweight enough for our truck to safely tow. And the Coachmen Apex Nano 208BHS is one of the lightest options in its class.

Weighing in at around 4300 pounds dry, it was a perfect fit. We still can’t believe that with all these features, it’s still so light!

    Bonus: Durability and Reliability

I also have to mention that we’ve been really happy with the durability and reliability of the camper so far, especially given all the horror stories you hear.

We did have a leak in the slide-out at one point, which thankfully Mitch caught early and was able to fix quickly and without spending much money.

We had to add longer screws to the cabinets to help them withstand the impact of full time travel, but honestly, we haven’t had any problems that we didn’t expect from a home on wheels.

There was that other time the pipes almost frozen while we were in Texas, but I think they’d call that user error. Or maybe an act of God… Anyway, I digress.

Ultimately, we’re really glad we chose the Coachmen Apex Nano 208BHS because of its:

    • Double-sized bunkhouse
    • Slide-out dinette
    • Natural light
    • Murphy bed sofa
    • Lightweight construction
    • Reliability and Durability
