Our Full Time Travel Story

Hey y’all! We’re the Arndt family. And as you may have guessed, we’re traveling nomads.

In November 2021, we sold it all – the house, the second car, the chicken coop, all the stuff – and traded up to a life of adventure in a 25-foot travel trailer. And we haven’t stopped exploring since.

It sounds awesome when we say it like that. And it is!

But the full story is a little more complicated.

Traveling full time in a tiny home on wheels was never in our plan.

The truth is: we burnt out on the “American Dream.” We spent a decade building a life society had taught us to chase. We had the 4-bedroom house, the picket fence, the big yard for the kids to play in…

But when we looked around, we realized we didn’t even want it. We didn’t want the endless home improvement projects or the weekend days spent organizing overflowing closets or the Amazon boxes that never quit coming.

Realizing that the life you worked so hard for isn’t actually giving you what you want is not easy. It’s downright scary. It was so tempting to stay in that comfort zone and try to be grateful.

But when you live like that, burnout is the natural consequence.

Eventually we had no choice but to move on. Now we know that a life full of experiences is so much more fulfilling than a life full of stuff. Thanks, Universe!

And that’s why we’re passionate about helping families build a life they don’t need a vacation from.

We hope our journey will help you let go of the things you think you’re supposed to want (even if you worked damn hard to achieve them!) so you can start creating a life you’ll truly love.

Meet Kaitlan

I’m Kaitlan, the voice behind the Talk Wild to Me blog. If you’re reading words around here, chances are good that those words are mine.

I do most of the route mapping, campsite selection, and destination planning for our family. Mitch likes to say I’m the brain behind our road trips.

Meet Mitch

When you see a beautiful photo around here, you can bet Mitch is the one who captured it.

Mitch is a stay-at-home dad. He leads the way on roadschooling, cooks delicious meals, and can fix just about anything that breaks down on our rig.

Meet the Rest of the Family

And we aren’t traveling alone! We love that we get to experience the US’s state and national parks with our two young kids.

Lee (born in 2014) loves Taylor Swift, cats, and outdoor adventures of all kinds. Josie (born in 2016) loves crafting, new playgrounds, and pretty flowers.

And, as if four people weren’t enough to fill up 250 square foot of space in a camper, we also travel with our two cats: Bug and Froot Loop.
